Eckerd College men’s basketball forward Lance Kearse will get a chance to showcase his talents on the national circuit after he was chosen to participate in the 2012 Reese’s Division II All-Star Game later this week in Highland Heights, Ky.
The National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) officially unveiled rosters this morning for the primetime event on Friday, March 23, at 7 p.m. (EDT). The night’s festivities will also feature a three-point contest and slam-dunk showdown inside The Bank of Kentucky Center.
Kearse will be suiting up for the Reese’s East All-Star Team that will be coached by Dale Clayton, past president of the NABC and former head coach at Carson-Newman College.
The all-star teams are comprised of 20 seniors representing each of the eight regions in NCAA Division II.
“It’s an unbelievable honor, and as is the case with everyone on the team, they are tremendous players,” EC Head Coach Tom Ryan said. “With everyone he’s had to overcome in his college career, this is a very nice way to end it.”
Kearse will practice with his East teammates for the first time on Thursday afternoon from 2:00-2:55 p.m and remain in the Bank of Kentucky Center as all-star introductions will be made at halftime of the NCAA semifinal contests.
Friday’s schedule includes another morning practice from 8:30-9:25 a.m. and Kearse will contribute to the community with a youth clinic scheduled from 4:30-6:00 p.m. before participating in the all-star game.
Kearse, the Sunshine State Conference Player of the Year and NABC First-Team All-South Region selection, is flying out today to begin preparations for the event and has graciously agreed to provide daily updates for EckerdTritons.com.
