Lynn's Anthony Boza and Eckerd's Joey Cuda have been recognized as Sunshine State Conference Baseball Players of the Week.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK -- Lynn senior C/DH Anthony Boza (Miami, Fla.) led the No. 27 Fighting Knights to a 3-1 weekly mark, including a conference sweep against Florida Tech. He batted .600 with 10 RBI and two runs scored. Posting a .647 on-base percentage, Boza tallied two home runs and a double en route to a 1.067 slugging percentage. He opened the week by going 2-for-4 with an RBI double in a 3-2 loss to Division I Florida Atlantic. After driving in a run in an 8-4 win in the series opener versus Tech, he went 6-for-8 with two home runs and eight RBI in Saturday’s doubleheader. In a 15-6 game two victory, Boza hit a grand slam in the fourth inning after the Panthers had taken a 4-2 lead. He then belted a three-run shot in the third inning of a 7-6 win in the finale, again halting a Panther rally that had put the squad ahead 4-2 in the top half of the frame.
PITCHER OF THE WEEK -- Eckerd senior Joey Cuda (St. Petersburg, Fla.) did not allow an earned run in 8.2 innings of the Tritons’ 4-1 SSC win over Rollins. Cuda scattered six hits with no walks and struck out a career-high 14 batters.
