A total of 23 student-athletes have been named to the 2012 All-Sunshine State Conference Women’s Soccer Team. Voting for the All-SSC Women’s Soccer Team was conducted among the league’s soccer coaches and sports information directors.
A sophomore playing in her hometown at the University of Tampa, Moore led the SSC with 34 points and 15 goals. She averaged a league-best 1.89 points per game and 0.83 goals per game. She also tied for eighth in the conference with four assists.
A sophomore from Austin, Texas, McKee tallied nine goals and six assists. Coming off a medical hardship season, she was third in the SSC with 24 points, an average of 1.50 per contest. Her nine goals also ranked third among league players, while her six assists placed fifth.
A senior from London, Cox provided leadership on a Rollins squad that fielded 18 freshmen and sophomores. She anchored a Tar defense that held opponents to just over one goal per match (1.19) and tallied seven shutouts, which tied for third in the conference. Cox also lent a hand on offense when needed, notching three goals.
In her debut season out of Lutz, Fla., Gonzalez formed the second half of a prolific tandem that propelled Tampa to the top of every team offensive statistical category. She ranked second in the SSC to her teammate Moore with 31 points (1.72 per game) and 12 goals (0.67 per game). Gonzalez also tied for third in the SSC with seven assists.
Milyak Schuck wins her first SSC Women’s Soccer Coach of the Year honor in just her second season as head coach at Rollins, having served six seasons as the Tars’ top assistant before taking the helm in February 2011. After starting the season 2-4, Milyak Schuck led a team comprised mostly of freshmen and sophomores to a ten-match unbeaten streak, including nine victories. With their strong finish, the Tars won the third SSC regular-season title in program history. Displaying a balanced attack, the squad ranks third in every conference offensive statistical category and also ties for third with seven shutouts. The Tars are ranked No. 14 in the latest NSCAA top-25 poll.
