Tampa's Simon and Lynn's Wright Claim Baseball Weekly Accolades
Tampa's Jared Simon and Lynn's Dan Wright have been selected Sunshine State Conference Baseball Players of the Week for the period ending March 15.
 | PLAYER OF THE WEEK -- Tampa sophomore infielder Jared Simon (Tampa, Fla.) batted .579 with 14 RBI and six runs to lead the Spartans to a 5-0 weekly mark, including a conference sweep against Eckerd. Simon notched multiple hits in all five games. He also scored at least one run in each contest and drove in multiple runs in four of five. Amassing a 1.211 slugging percentage, Simon hit at least one double in each game. He also belted a triple and one home run. One of Simon’s most impressive outings came in a 9-7 win in the finale versus Eckerd, as he went 2-for-4 with a double and four RBI. He concluded the week with a .579 OBP and a 1.000 fielding percentage. |
 | PITCHER OF THE WEEK -- Lynn junior Dan Wright (West Palm Beach, Fla.) threw a complete game shutout to lift the Fighting Knights to a 1-0 conference series-opening win over No. 8 Nova Southeastern. Wright permitted just two hits and two walks against a Shark offense that was leading the league in virtually every offensive category. He struck out five batters en route to picking up the first complete game shutout of his career. |
