Barry's Collins and FSC's Clark Receive Final Softball Weekly Awards

Barry's Grace Collins and Florida Southern's Christine Clark have been recognized as the Sunshine State Conference Softball Players of the Week for the period ending May 1.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK --  Barry junior RF Grace Collins (Tampa, Fla.) batted .474 with five runs and four RBI as the Buccaneers went 4-1 with an SSC series sweep at Lynn.  Collins hit safely in all five games to extend her hitting streak to eight contests.  She tallied multiple hits in three outings.  In a 14-8 win in the Bucs’ series opener at Lynn, she went 3-for-4 with two doubles and three RBI.  Collins was particularly lethal on the base paths, where she was a perfect 7-for-7 in stolen base attempts.  She concluded the week with a .579 slugging percentage and a .524 OBP.                                      

PITCHER OF THE WEEK --  Florida Southern junior Christine Clark (Naples, Fla.) picked up two complete-game wins against Nova Southeastern.  Working 19.0 innings, she gave up three earned runs on 11 hits and five walks.  She struck out 10.  Clark was in the circle for both of the Moccasins’ 3-2 wins, which came in the series opener and finale.  In game one, she threw a career-high 12 innings and held the Sharks scoreless for the final six frames after FSC tied the game at 2-2 in the bottom of the sixth.  She concluded the week with a 1.11 ERA.
