Tampa's Danielle Selkridge and Barry's Lanie Muys have been named Sunshine State Conference Volleyball Players of the Week for the period ending September 25.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK -- Tampa junior MH Danielle Selkridge (Tortola, Virgin Islands) averaged 3.3 kills per set with a .518 attack percentage to lead the No. 2 Spartans to a trio of SSC wins. Selkridge opened the week with 13 kills, three blocks, and an assist in a four-set win over Florida Southern. She hit an eye-popping .706 in the match. She then tallied 13 kills, four blocks, a dig, and an assist in a sweep versus Saint Leo. She was again efficient with her swings, posting a .647 hitting mark. Selkridge concluded the week with 10 kills and four blocks in a four-set win against Eckerd.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK -- Barry sophomore Lanie Muys (Orland Park, Ill.) averaged 1.4 blocks per set as the Buccaneers split a pair of SSC matches. In a three-set sweep versus Nova Southeastern, Muys posted 10 kills and five blocks to help hold the Sharks to a .087 team hitting percentage. She also gathered a pair of digs in the contest. Muys also tallied eight kills and five blocks in a four-set loss to Florida Tech. Her efforts at the net helped hold Barry’s conference foes to a .165 hitting percentage.
