Lindsay Biggs, a sophomore middle blocker for Eckerd College, has been named the Sports Imports/AVCA Division II National Player of the Week.
Biggs' selection caps a huge week for the Tritons, who knocked off then-No. 1 and previously unbeaten Tampa in a five-set thriller. Eckerd followed that performance a day later with another five-set win over Rollins, a team with whom Eckerd was tied for second in the league standings heading into the match.
Against Tampa, Biggs racked up 16 kills and nine digs before stepping up her game up against Rollins, where she had another 18 kills and 12 digs and hit at a .485 clip.
For the week, she averaged 3.4 kills and 2.1 digs per set while hitting .422. Her efforts also earned SSC Offensive Player of the Week honors on Monday.
Biggs' selection marks the first time in program history a Triton has earned Sports Imports/AVCA Division II Player of the Week honors. The squad is coached by Courtney Draper.
