NSU's Black Tabbed National Swimmer of the Week
Erin Black, a member of the Nova Southeastern women’s swimming and diving team, has been named National Swimmer of the Week as announced by Counsilman-Hunsaker Tuesday evening.
Black tallied 54 points as the top individual point scorer for the Sharks to help NSU capture its first conference title at the Sunshine State Conference Swimming and Diving Championships last week. Black finished the meet with NCAA automatic qualifying finishes as a member of the 800-yard freestyle relay team, in the 1650- free and the 500- free, where she also set a new SSC record with a time of 4:51.11.
She also finished with NCAA "B" standard times in the 200- free and as part of the 200- free relay team.
The NSU women’s swimming and diving team led from start to finish at the SSC Championships, closing out the meet 11 points ahead of second-place Tampa. It was the first title for the Sharks in the short two-year history of the program.
