Rollins' Monica Meadows and Nova Southeastern's Sara DeMuth have been named Sunshine State Conference Softball Players of the Week.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK -- Rollins senior OF Monica Meadows (Daphne, Ala.) led the No. 19 Tars to a 5-1 weekly mark including a win over No. 1 Alabama-Huntsville. Meadows batted .450 with eight runs and six RBI. She hit safely in five games and tallied multiple hits in three contests. Posting a 1.050 slugging percentage, Meadows notched two doubles, two triples, and two home runs, hitting at least one extra-base shot in five of six games. She concluded the week with a .500 OBP and was flawless in the field.
PITCHER OF THE WEEK -- Nova Southeastern senior Sara DeMuth (Plant City, Fla.) posted a 4-1 record and a save in six appearances for the Sharks. She hurled five complete games, including three shutouts. In a 2-0 win over Columbus State, DeMuth permitted just one hit with no walks and 12 strikeouts. In a 2-0 decision over Mercyhurst, she scattered five hits with one walk and eight strikeouts. Her other shutout came in a 2-0 SSC win over Florida Tech, as she allowed just two hits with four walks and fanned five Panther batters. Working 36.0 innings, DeMuth surrendered eight earned runs on 30 hits and five walks. She struck out 38 and posted a 1.56 ERA.
