SLU's Santa and LU's Harvey Named Baseball Players of the Week

Saint Leo's Anthony Santa and Lynn's Jerad Harvey have been named Sunshine State Conference Baseball Players of the Week.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK --  Saint Leo senior 1B Anthony Santa (Tampa, Fla.) batted .533 with 12 RBI and nine runs in a 4-0 week for the Lions.  Santa hit safely in each game and tallied multiple hits in three outings.  He also belted extra-base hits in three contests en route to a .933 slugging percentage.  In both a 12-1 win over St. Anselm and an 18-6 decision over Young Harris, Santa went 2-for-4 with five RBI.  He concluded the week with three doubles and a home run.  He recorded a .611 OBP and a 1.000 fielding mark.                                 

PITCHER OF THE WEEK --  In just his second start of the season, Lynn junior Jerad Harvey (Reno, Nev.) earned the win in the No. 30 Fighting Knights’ 1-0 shutout over No. 1 Tampa.  Working six innings, Harvey scattered four hits with two walks to help Lynn secure its first league series against UT since 2007.  Harvey notched a career-high eight strikeouts in the contest.
