Florida Southern led from start to finish, ultimately posting a 12-stroke victory over Nova Southeastern on Tuesday to win the title at the NCAA Division II Women's Golf South Regional. The Mocs and Sharks will be joined by Barry, which placed third, at the NCAA DII Women's Golf Championship May 16-19 in Louisville, Ky.
Florida Southern posted a three-round score of 902 (302-296-304) to win the tournament. Nova Southeastern tallied a 914 (308-300-306), and Barry recorded a 922 (305-300-317).
Nova Southeastern's Liliana Cammisa took home the individual championship, posting her second straight sub-par round on Tuesday. Cammisa's final-round one-under 71 gave her a final total of 212 (74-67-71), four strokes better than second-place golfer Meghan Moore of UNC-Pembroke.
Saint Leo's Goeun Lee finished the regional with a three-round score of 222 (73-75-74) to finish sixth and take one of the spots reserved at the NCAA Championship for the top three individual finishers not competing on a qualifying team.
Lee's Saint Leo squad concluded the tournament with a 924 (308-309-307) to finish fourth in the team standings. Lynn was fifth (303-311-312=926), and Rollins tied for seventh (312-308-309=929).
Nancy Vergara was Barry's top individual finisher, posting a tally of 220 (72-72-76) to finish fourth. M.J. Audette paced Florida Southern in fifth place with a score of 221 (73-72-76).
The three SSC teams will look to extend the conference's streak of NCAA DII women's golf championships to 13 straight. An SSC team has won the title every year since 2000. Florida Southern won three straight titles in 2000, 2001, and 2002. Rollins reeled off four consecutive national championships in 2003, 2004, 2005, and 2006. The Mocs reclaimed the top spot in 2007, but the Tars stepped back to the pinnacle in 2008. In 2011, NSU completed a “three-peat” of its own, having also won the DII crown in 2009 and 2010.
The NCAA DII Women's Golf Championship will be played at Perasimmon Ridge Golf Course as part of the NCAA DII Championships Festival.
ROUND TWO RECAP
Florida Southern maintained its spot atop the leaderboard, and the six SSC teams occupied the top six slots in the team standings after two rounds at the NCAA Division II Women's Golf South Regional. The tournament will conclude with 18 holes on Tuesday at the Stonebook Golf Club in Pace, Fla.
The Moccasins extended their lead to seven strokes, firing a second-round 296 to take their total score to 598 (302-296). Barry moved up one spot to second with a two-day score of 605 (305-300). Nova Southeastern assumed third place with a 608 (308-300). Lynn slipped to fourth with a second-round 311, taking their total to 614 (303-311). Saint Leo is fifth (308-309=617), and Rollins is sixth (312-308=620).
NSU's Liliana Cammisa took over the top spot in the individual standings, firing a five-under 67 on Monday. With a two-round score of 141 (74-67), she holds a one-stroke lead over teammate Abbey Gittings (69-73=142).
Barry's Nancy Vergara sits in third with a 144. She has shot an even-par 72 in both rounds thus far. Southern's M.J. Audette is fourth with a 145 (73-72). Rollins' Kayla Sciupider is tied for fifth after turning in a two-under-par 70 on Monday (77-70=147).

ROUND ONE RECAP
SSC teams dominated the top half of the leaderboard, and Florida Southern held an early one-stroke lead after the opening round at the NCAA Division II Women's Golf South Regional. The event continues through Tuesday at the Stonebrook Golf Club in Pace, Fla.
Southern posted a day one score of 302 to take a one-stroke edge over Lynn, which tallied a 303. Barry was not far behind in third place with an opening-round 305. Saint Leo and Nova Southeastern were knotted in fourth place with a 308. Rollins is seventh after recording a 312.
NSU's Abbey Gittings leads the individual standings, firing the only under-par score of the day. Gittings shot a three-under 69. Barry's Nancy Vergara got off to a good start with an even-par 72. Saint Leo's Goeun Lee and FSC's M.J. Audette are tied for third with a first-round score of 73.
Louise Manalo led Lynn on day one with a score of 74, which tied for seventh. For Rollins, Fabia Rothenfluh is tied for 14th with a 76.

Six SSC women's golf teams have been selected to participate in the NCAA Division II South Region Championship, which will be held at the Stonebrook Golf Course in Pace, Fla., May 6-8.
Nova Southeastern, Florida Southern, Lynn, Rollins, Barry, and Saint Leo will vie for the regional title.
Each super regional will consist of both team and individual competition conducted concurrently with nine teams and four individuals from non-qualifying teams at each site. Participants will complete 54 holes of golf. The top three teams, along with the top three individuals not with a qualifying team, from each super regional will advance to the championships.
The 2012 NCAA Division II Women’s Golf Championships will be held May 16-19 at Persimmon Ridge Golf Course in Louisville, Ky.
