Seven SSC softball student-athletes have been recognized as members of the Capital One Academic All-District Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Tampa and Florida Southern each placed two honorees on the list. For the Spartans, pitcher Deanna Henriott notched a 3.46 GPA as an elementary education major. Outfielder Brie Walton posted a 3.69 GPA in criminology. Moccasin infielder Randi Grimes achieved a 3.30 GPA in sociology, while teammate Karlyn Scott posted a perfect 4.00 average as a biology major.
Barry infielder Sarah Broeseker also made the team with a 3.63 GPA in biology. Saint Leo catcher Brittany Yates was recognized after accumulating a 3.55 average in criminal justice. Nova Southeastern designated player Laura Saladrigas recorded a 3.36 GPA in biology.
The Capital One Division II and III Academic All-America® program is being financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2011-12 DII and DIII Academic All-America® teams program.
First-team Academic All-District ® honorees advance to the Capital One Academic All-America® Team ballot, where first, second, and third-team All-America honorees will be selected later.
