Four SSC institutions were represented on the 2007 All-Sunshine State Conference Women’s Rowing Team, which was announced today by Commissioner Michael J. Marcil. Nova Southeastern senior Nicole Felluca was chosen SSC Rower of the Year, while Nova Southeastern’s Varsity 8 was selected SSC Boat of the Year. First-year Florida Tech coach Adam Thorstad was named SSC Coach of the Year.
Voting for the All-SSC Rowing Team was conducted among the league’s rowing coaches and sports information directors.
Joining Felluca on the squad were: Libby Lowe from Barry; Cheryl Skibski and Amanda Saeger from Florida Tech; Miglena Dzhupanova, Monica Henderson, Cindy Fong, Megankate McDonald, and coxswain Cheyenne Poskey from Nova Southeastern; and Kim Lucy from Rollins.
Named to the All-Freshman/Novice Team were: Florida Tech’s Skibski, Saeger, and Laurel Borgias, as well as Nova Southeastern’s Michele Zielinski and coxswain Stefany Fabian.
Nova Southeastern won the 2007 SSC Rowing Championship, with its Varsity 8 crew posting a winning time of 6:18.60 and its Varsity 4 crossing the finish line in 7:28.70 to win that event as well.
