Rollins' Bennett and Lynn's Wright Selected Baseball Players of the Week
Rollins' Bryan Bennett and Lynn's Dan Wright have been chosen Sunshine State Conference Baseball Players of the Week for the period ending April 26.
|PLAYER OF THE WEEK -- Rollins senior RF Bryan Bennett (Longwood, Fla.) batted .533 with five runs and seven RBI to lead the Tars to a 3-1 weekly mark, including a series sweep over Eckerd. The feat marked the first time since 2005 that Rollins has swept a conference series. Bennett tallied multiple hits in three games. He also had a home run in two of the Tars’ victories against the Tritons. In an 18-4 win in game two, he was 4-for-5 with a homer, three runs, and five RBI. For the week, he posted a .933 slugging percentage, a .563 OBP, and a 1.000 fielding percentage.|
PLAYER OF THE WEEK -- Lynn junior Dan Wright (West Palm Beach, Fla.) surrendered just one hit with two walks and 17 strikeouts in an 8-0 win over Florida Tech. Wright’s 17 strikeout performance set a new school single-game mark. Working all nine innings of the contest, he pitched 7.1 innings of no-hit ball before allowing a single in the eighth.
