Flurry of Coaching Hires Brings New Faces to SSC Schools
Three new coaches are acquainting themselves at SSC member institutions after a flurry of hires in recent weeks.
On August 1, Florida Tech announced the hiring of Valeria Silvestrini to head up the Panther softball program. A native of Argentina, Silvestrini brings coaching experience from three different collegiate softball programs, having most recently served as an assistant at North Florida. On August 7, Nova Southeastern announced the hiring of the school's first ever swimming and diving coach, Hollie Bonewit-Cron. Bringing nine years of collegiate coaching experience, Bonewit-Cron will embark on building the Sharks' swimming program from the bottom up, as the squad will debut as an NCAA sport in 2010-11. August 12 saw a change at the head of the Saint Leo men's and women's tennis program for the first time in nearly 40 years. James Bryce was hired to take the place of longtime veteran Tim Crosby, who retired earlier this summer. A native of England, Bryce comes to Saint Leo from fellow DII school Columbus State. Prior to Columbus State, he served a coaching stint at his alma mater, Samford. A complete release appears here.
