Two SSC Men's Basketball Games to Broadcast Live on Bright House Sports Network

Two upcoming SSC men’s basketball games will be broadcast live on Bright House Sports Network (BHSN).  Florida Tech’s game at Eckerd will be aired at 7 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 24, while the Panthers’ game at Saint Leo will be shown at 7 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 31.

Both contests were originally scheduled to be played on the Saturday prior to each air date, as is customary with the conference’s schedule grid.  Nevertheless, with Bright House presenting an opportunity for the games to be broadcast live on its Sports Network, all three teams were eager to rearrange their schedules to accommodate the live television opportunity.  With BHSN being headquartered in the Tampa area, and Eckerd College and Saint Leo University being located in the same vicinity, the proposition was a win-win for the network and for the SSC.

"The conference is excited that Bright House has asked to broadcast some of our men’s basketball games," SSC Commissioner Jay Jones said.  "We hope to continue working with them in the future and believe they will be a great partner for the Sunshine State Conference."

Both games can be viewed live on Bright House Sports Network, available exclusively to Bright House Digital Cable subscribers on digital channel 47. Those with high definition televisions can also watch the game in HD on channel 1147.

Bright House Networks is the sixth largest multiple cable system operator in the United States with 2.4 million customers in several large cities, including Tampa Bay and Orlando.  The high-growth Florida markets are adjacent and form one of the country’s largest cable clusters.

Bright House Networks also owns and operates two 24-hour local news operations:  Central Florida News 13 serving the Orlando area, and Bay News 9 serving the Tampa Bay area.  In 2009, the former Catch 47 was rebranded Bright House Sports Network and its offerings were expanded throughout the Tampa Bay and Orlando viewing areas.
