2019 SSC Men’s Tennis Tournament Bracket Announced

Quarterfinal play begins April 26th at IMG Academy

MELBOURNE, Fla. - [PDF Bracket | MTEN Tournament Page] - The Sunshine State Conference Men’s Tennis Tournament begins with quarterfinal play on Friday, April 26th. All tournament matches will be hosted by Nova Southeastern University at IMG Academy in Bradenton.

Barry University, the 2019 conference regular season champions, earn the #1 seed in this year’s tournament. The Buccaneers will take on #8 Florida Tech in the opening round. Lynn University grabs the #2 seed and matches up against #7 Palm Beach Atlantic University during the quarterfinals. Rounding out this year’s quarterfinals are #3 Saint Leo University against #6 Florida Southern College as well as #4 Rollins against #5 Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.

All quarterfinal matches will be played at 10:00 AM on Friday, April 26th, while the semifinals will take place at 10:00 AM on Saturday, April 27th. The championship and third-place matches are slated to start at 9:00 AM on Sunday, April 28th.

Recently, Barry fell from the top position in the ITA’s national poll and landed in the No. 2 spot. The Buccaneers are followed in the ranking by four Top-15 teams: No. 4 Saint Leo, No. 10 Rollins, and No. 12 Lynn. Rounding out the SSC’s ranked teams in the April 17th version of the poll are No. 23 Palm Beach Atlantic, No. 35 Florida Southern, and No. 40 Embry-Riddle.

Barry men’s tennis swept all competition on the way to winning the national title in 2015, the latest for an SSC men’s program. The Buccaneers went 26-0 and for a second time in program history went unbeaten to win a national title. Rollins picked up their last national title in 2001 and leads the SSC with four overall. Three national titles for Barry put them in second, while Lynn won the title in 2007. From 2006 to 2018, the SSC has sent a team to 10 championship matches, coming away with four titles.
