SAINT LEO, Fla. (Women’s Golf) – The Saint Leo University Director of Athletics Francis X. Reidy has announced the appointment of Tommy Baker as the new head coach for the Saint Leo women's golf program. Baker, a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Pembroke, makes his way to Saint Leo after serving as the head men's and women's golf coach at Coker College in Hartsville, S.C. In a taped episode which aired on Monday night on the Golf Channel, former Sunshine State Conference and Nova Southeastern Alumna Taylor Collins won the Big Break Mexico reality competition and now receives an exemption to compete on the LPGA Tour at the 2013 Lorena Ochoa Invitational from November 14-17. Collins was a member of three Nova Southeastern national championship teams and won the Division II individual national title with a record-setting performance in 2011. She was also honored with a first-team All-SSC selection in 2011 and a second-team selection in 2010. Read the full story.
Lynn's NCAA Division II National Championship women’s golf season became more impressive on Wednesday following its recognition by the Women’s Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) as an All-Scholar Team. Posting a 3.737 team GPA, the Fighting Knights finished with the sixth-highest average among all four-year institutions in the nation and the third-best among NCAA Division II schools.
